A new year..........

apple

I've decided to challenge myself this year to find my way back to being healthy, in mind, body and spirit. I need to take better care of myself and the ones I love. My challenge will consist of

1. Being more mindful of what I eat. Choosing the healthiest alternatives I can.
A. Cutting out ALL processed foods.
B. Cutting out refined sugars.
C. Trying to eliminate gluten from my diet.

2. Committing to at least 30 minutes of some form of exercise EVERY day.
-gotta use it or lose it, right? I'm not getting any younger!

3. Taking 15 minutes EVERY day to just be.
A. Reading, listening to, or watching something positive.
B. Guided relaxation.

4. Learning how to use the time I do have to its full potential, not just
getting overwhelmed by all the things that need to be done, but doing them.

5. And finally, doing everything I can to identify my talents and finding the best
way to put them to use.

PHEW! Quite a list, but I figure if I obligate myself to check in every day with what steps I've managed to incorporate into my day, then I'll be more likely to be mindful of what I am doing with my health and well being. Seems silly to have to actually spell all this out, but a lot of us women tend to put ourselves last and get lost in the details of every day life. We're usually too busy taking care of everyone one else and putting their needs first.

So, I will challenge myself to taking positive steps toward a healthier life. I welcome any tips, tricks or resources that anyone wants to share.

And as we leave the old year behind and head into the new,
I wish you all the best and may all your dreams come true.

Promise Yourself
By Christian D. Larson

Promise yourself….

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
